Pambukkal Estate is a heritage coffee plantation nestled in the scenic highlands of Salem District, Tamil Nadu, at an elevation of approximately 4,300 feet above sea level. Blessed with a cool, mist-laden climate and fertile mountain soil, the estate offers ideal conditions for cultivating exceptional-quality coffee.
Set amid the breathtaking Sheveroy Hills, the estate’s legacy dates back to 1933, when it was acquired from the Salem Catholic Mission by the State Brothers, Abu Bakr Sait and Muhummed Sait, laying the foundation for generations of dedicated coffee craftsmanship. In 1977, the estate came under the stewardship of its current custodians, who continue to honour this rich heritage through sustainable, responsible, and innovative farming practices.
Pambukkal Estate primarily cultivates Arabica coffee, featuring premium varieties such as SLN 795 and Sandram. The coffee is grown under natural shade and selectively handpicked at peak ripeness to ensure superior quality. Committed to organic and eco-conscious agriculture, the plantation supports rich biodiversity through intercropping with black pepper, ginger, turmeric, silver oak, and an array of fruit trees.
From meticulous cultivation to refined processing, every stage is managed with precision to preserve the coffee’s unique character.
The result is a distinguished cup profile featuring elegant notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, mild citrus, nutty tones, and a hint of spice. The cup reveals slight fruity, lemony, and berry-like nuances, balanced with sharp citrus acidity, a medium body, a juicy mouthfeel, and a long, persistent aftertaste.
More than just a plantation, Pambukkal Estate is a living legacy of quality, sustainability, and passion—inviting coffee lovers around the world to experience the true essence of Tamil Nadu’s highland coffee.
